Ten years on and around boats
I've worked on boats since 2015, first in Europe and now in Grenada. These days I'm a freelance project manager at a busy Grenada boatyard, running refits, haul-outs and yard periods. That means scoping the work, getting quotes from contractors, chasing parts and checking the finish: hull polishing and antifouling alongside engines, systems and upgrades.
So I spend my working days on the other side of the job from you. I'm the person who has to find a crew, get a price and book the work, usually for an owner who isn't there. I know how that choice really gets made: who replies, who quotes clearly, who turns up when they said they would, and whose work I'd put my name to. That's where GND comes from.
Great work, hidden by bad websites
Boat detailing is one of the few trades where the product is a dramatic, visible change. Chalky, oxidised gelcoat comes back to a mirror finish. Yet most detailing websites bury that in a photo grid nobody opens.
The other half of the problem is time. Nobody answers the phone halfway through a cut and polish, and by the time the crew is off the boat, the owner has often booked someone else. That isn't a work-ethic problem; it's the nature of the job. So everything I build does two things: makes the transformation impossible to miss, and makes sure every enquiry gets answered in seconds, even when you can't.
What you can expect
- Straight answers. If SEO won't help you this season, I'll say so. Our SEO page even has a section on what it can't do.
- No five-figure invoices. Plans are monthly with nothing up front, because a business that bills by the boat shouldn't have to bet $10,000 on a website.
- Your domain and content stay yours. Always, as set out in our terms.
- Real hours. I'm based in Grenada, which keeps the same clock as the US East Coast for most of the year. Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
Small, and straight about it
GND builds and looks after websites for businesses here in Grenada, including Bryan Bullen Architects, an award-winning practice in St. George's, and NSS Charter, a yacht charter company based at the Grenada Yacht Club.
What I don't have yet is a wall of boat detailing clients, and I won't invent one. Instead, the first ten detailing shops get a founding rate that's locked for as long as they stay, in return for helping shape the product and, if it works for them, letting me tell their story.
