How much does a boat detailing website actually cost?
Anywhere from twenty dollars a month to fifteen thousand up front. Here's what you get at each level, the costs nobody puts in the quote, and how to work out which one makes sense for your shop.

Four ways to get a site, four price shapes.
Prices below are typical ranges for small service businesses in the US. Your quotes will vary, but the shape of each option rarely does.
| Option | Typical cost | You get | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website builder (Wix, Squarespace and similar) | About $20–$50 a month, plus your time | A template you fill in yourself | Your evenings. Sites that look like every other template. |
| Freelancer | About $1,000–$5,000 once, plus hosting | A custom site, usually a few pages | Edits billed by the hour. Freelancers who disappear. |
| Agency | About $5,000–$15,000 up front, often plus a monthly retainer | Strategy, design, copy and build | Months of discovery. Lead follow-up still your problem. |
| Subscription (what we do) | $197–$749 a month, nothing up front | Site, hosting, edits and lead response in one | The build is licensed, not bought outright (see below). |
Where the money actually goes
- Photos and video. The biggest difference between a site that sells detailing and one that doesn't. Your own phone photos are usually better than a photographer's stock-looking shots.
- Copy. Someone has to write words that sound like a detailer, not a brochure. Template sites skip this and it shows.
- Number of pages. A page per service and per marina costs more to build but is what gets you found for those searches.
- Forms, booking and phone. A contact form that emails you is cheap. A system that answers, qualifies and books is not.
- Ongoing changes. New photos, new prices, a new service. This is the cost most quotes leave out.
Budget for these too
- Domain name: roughly $15–$25 a year.
- Hosting and SSL: free on builders, extra with most freelancers.
- Business email: a few dollars per person per month.
- Booking software: often a separate monthly subscription.
- Edits: hourly with freelancers and agencies, your own time on builders.
- Missed enquiries: the biggest one, and it never appears on an invoice. Try the missed-jobs calculator with your own numbers.
Match the option to your shop
Pick a website builder if…
You're just starting, money is tight, and you're comfortable spending a few evenings on it. Use your own before-and-after photos, put your phone number at the top, and you'll be ahead of plenty of established shops.
Pick a freelancer if…
You want to own the site outright, have the cash now, and are happy to handle hosting and changes yourself or pay as you go.
Pick an agency if…
You run several crews or locations and need strategy, brand and ongoing marketing in one place, with the budget to match.
Pick a subscription if…
You'd rather not pay five figures up front, want edits and hosting handled, and care most about the phone ringing and enquiries being answered while you're working. That's the gap we built our plans around.
What you own on a subscription
Ask this about any monthly website deal. With us, your domain, photos, written content, customer records and leads are always yours, and we'll hand them over whenever you ask. The site build itself (our design, code and the scroll sequence) is licensed while you subscribe. If you want to keep the build when you leave, we'll quote a one-off buy-out. The full detail is in our terms.
Common questions
Is a $5,000 website worth it for a boat detailer?
It can be, if it brings in a few extra jobs a month and you'd use it for years. But price matters less than whether the site shows your work clearly, works on a phone, and gets enquiries answered fast. A cheap site that does those three beats an expensive one that doesn't.
Can I just use Facebook or my Google profile instead of a website?
Many detailers get started that way and it works. A website adds a place you control: your full before-and-after work, services and prices, and a booking or quote form. It also helps your Google profile, which links to it.
How long does a detailing website take to build?
A builder site can go up in a weekend. Freelancers and agencies typically take several weeks to a few months. Our builds go live in about ten days from receiving your photos.
Do you charge a setup fee?
No. Every plan starts at $0 up front and runs month to month, apart from the founding rate, which is a 12-month term in exchange for the discount.
